CAMP OVEN & FRYING PAN BAGS

I was lucky enough to spend a Saturday recently in the Victorian Goldfields town of Dunolly. I did the Introduction to Geology by Andrew Bales from RawGold.
What a revelation. I see the country now in a complete new light.
Andrew is very knowledgeable, being a Geologist, and is fantastic at helping prospectors know not just where, but why an area should be targeted.
Reading the land is, in my opinion, more important that the latest technology. And after going out in old workings around Dunolly with Andrew, knowledge of how gold forms and is deposited is invaluable. I was also intrigued by how the old timers hunted for gold without technology. I think that this historical knowledge is also invaluable.
So, if you fancy yourself as a modern-day gold hunter, do yourself a favour and check out RawGold and Andrew’s Geology Workshops. You won't regret it.

I found it very interesting & informative, a lot of questions I’ve had for many years were answered during the day, I now look at gold locations in a different way with a new understanding of how geology works

From the moment Andrew started talking, it was clear this was no ordinary course. This is a man who lives and breathes geology, and his passion for the goldfields is absolutely infectious. He doesn't just tell you where to look, he teaches you how to think like a geologist, how to read the ground beneath your feet, interpret rock structures and understand why gold ends up where it does. Andrew has a rare ability to make complex geological concepts feel exciting, accessible and immediately useful in the field. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned prospector, you will leave this course seeing the goldfields through completely different eyes.
Do yourself a favour, book a spot on Andrew's next workshop. You will not regret it!
